Details: Thomas Alexander Fletcher Slater (1895-1916), born 13 August 1895 at Millbrook, Southampton, son of William Alexander Slater (bank manager) and Fanny Slater (nee Smith) of 7 High Street, Christchurch, Dorset.


Attended Twynam Lodge preparatory school, Christchurch, Dorset.


Attended Sherborne School (Harper House) September 1909-December 1913; 6th form; Head of House.


Farming in Canada, 1914.


WW1, Lieutenant in the Dorsetshire Regiment, 5th Bn. Missing, presumed killed, between 25-26 September 1916, at the Somme at Thiepval Ridge.

Slater donated £10 towards the Sherborne School War Memorial in memory of his son, Lieut. T.A.F. Slater.
