Details: Frederick Sidney Newman Young (1880-1918), also known by his stage name Norman Yates. Born 19 July 1880 in Plymouth, Devon. Son of John Frederick Young and Julia Ann Young of The Lodge, Bulmershe Road, Reading, Berkshire (formerly of Cumberwood, Dorchester, Dorset). Husband of Odette Geraldine Young (stage name Evelyn Cecil).


Attended Dorset County School.


Attended Sherborne School (The Green) September 1894-August 1897.


Occupation: Auctioneer and land agent at Reading, Berkshire.


Actor: 'In the Grip of Death' (1913), 'The Finger of Destiny' (1914), and 'The Prisoner of Zenda' (1915)


WW1, Captain in the Royal Army Service Corps. Mentioned in despatches. Died of disease in hospital in Baghdad on 1 March 1918.
