Another shot from our recent family vacation. These are the California redwoods in the Simpson Reed Grove off Hwy 199. I'd been to see the redwoods as a kid, and it was cool to get back again. They are every bit as big as I remember.

Excellent clean vivid colors. Very well composed.

Heck, those moving ferns make me dizzy! Uhh-ohh! LOL
On a more serious note Sheldon, they are actually quite nice. They make a great contrast to the firm and everlasting redwoods. Very nice mood to it as well. Really dig this piece!

Soft and subtle. I do like the ferns, but get rid of the redwoods and what do you have left? The trees have the presence and scale to make the shot go off out of the frame in my mind. An important element I feel. Nice lighting and I am jealous of this beautiful location you have been to.

One of the most beautiful places on earth and this is an absolutely awesome shot! PERFECT lighting and composure.

Beautiful light, these trees must be amazing "in the flesh". Great scene, nice shot!

Thanks everyone, it really is a magical place.

I tried a crop w/o the tree on the left but I think it loses a bit of the sense of space. Thanks for the input though!

I always admire these redwood shots, because I've never gotten anything I'm happy with. This will be great inspiration to keep trying. Great shot, Sheldon!!

Dude, the processing on this just reminds me how head and shoulders you are above me.... and it pisses me off!!!!!!

The contrast between the green tones and the trees is fabulous. Nice texture and detail as well.. I reall like this one!

I think I have a photo taken from the exact same spot...which is harder to do at this park than at others. ;-)

    Hi Sheldon,

I really enjoy your photos, and I feel we have a slightly similar style... I hope that doesn't offend you...

Let me know what you think of this picture, which I thought of immediately when I was flicking through your photostream.....
