Long Bar, Raffles Hotel

 

Celebrities and grandeur apart, Raffles Hotel is better known for its Long Bar, (pictured here) which serves the famed Singapore Sling, a signature drink invented here in this very bar. Folks travel from all over the world to this bar just to try the Singapore Sling, which at S$30 is a very pricey drink indeed! It's a mixture of cranberry juice, gin and other elements, and is supposed to be a secret recipe, with each glass of the Sling specially blended by an expert barman. Not any longer though, nowadays they use a ready made mix. (Singapore, Oct. 2009)
