Soi Bangla- Phuket's version of Sin Street
This is the entrance Soi Bangla- Phuket's version of Sin Street. Soi Bangla is the bar district of Phuket. I am generally afraid of entering bar areas alone at night, and have not had any success getting my guides to accompany me there by day, even for a quick ten minutes photo shoot. Although not part of my half day Phuket tour, I begged my driver guide to bring me here, albeit very briefly, promising him a generous tip. As always, parking was a problem, so he agreed to drop me off on the bar street (all alone? Yikes!) while he drove once around the block and came to pick me up again. The Patong district is arguably one of the most sleazy places in Phuket. It is where much of the sex tourism in Phuket takes place. In other words, it's a red light district. Apart from sex workers, Patong also has more than its fair share of obnoxious drunk people, gross sex shows, taxi mafias, and drugs. I took a few quick shots here by day as you will see as we go along, but on being assured by my hotel people and an Indian restaurant where I had my dinner, also returned later for a few night shots. armed only with my iPhone, as carrying a large dSLR here would have spelt instant disaster.
