Dell Guthrie at The Muddy Creek Cafe
Dell Guthrie has one of the best voices I have heard and is smooth on the guitar. He was kind enough to invite me to The Muddy Creek Café, I’ve seen him play at two clubs now. You can book him at or call 336-788-1874. I’ve seen him do a solo show but tonight he had a band. Better than his voice is his personality. The people love him and know him. I was especially impressed with his female vocalist, Melissa Smith. Tucked away in the corner neatly quietly and well dressed were two guys you just could tell have played together a long time, Ray Allegrezza and Doug Palmer. What was interesting about them was if they just stepped out of their car, without the Western Shirt I’d have no idea they could rip on the guitar and Steel guitar like they do. Check out the guitar he played. Bill Porter was plucking the Bass., The Muddy creek café owned by Shana Whitehead and Managed by Bill Heath is a really cool place. Shana if I misspelled your name, forgive me. The café is right out of a magazine cover with a porch, great sandwiches friendly staff and a well dressed bunch of friendly patrons all ages. They had a rebuilt red tractor out front. It just seemed to me that most of the crowd were regulars and really enjoyed each other’s company. I saw single men and women of all ages and kids were welcome. Couples were having a good time. The club encourages activities and was giving an award for a special event. Better than that they give musicians a chance to get their feet wet. Dell and his band were much better than just beginning musicians. They packed the house and the porch was full and everyone was smiling! I even saw an angel. Coming soon, some video clips of tonight’s fun.
