Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 84 at the west end of the Gold Star Bridge in New London, CT. Even with all the other Exit 83 signs being simplified, the sign just past this one at the exit itself remains button copy "Phase III" and still lists "New London" and "Shopping Malls" as destinations. Would it have killed ConnDOT to replace one more sign, even if the existing pull-through and truss gantry remained?
On the Gold Star Bridge itself, no secondary signage was replaced, including that exit gore sign for Exit 84, though the yellow-on-black speed limit sign was added. Remnants of the construction lane markings are visible.
Work on the Northbound span is expected to start in 2019 and is expected to be more intensive than the southbound work, expected to last 4 or more years.
