Gentle Giant #3

    Newer Older

New Rooster in the Hen House: A rescue of a magnificent, beautiful huge rooster from a flock where all the other roosters were picking on him. He has unique characteristics: huge, black white feather array (an Op Art symphony of lines and circles) but mainly he is unique because of the feathers on his feet. He is referred to as the "Gentle Giant" in the rooster literature, a "Brahmin" rooster originally from India. At first the hens made his life miserable, chasing him around, terrorizing him (origin of "henpecking"?), but he has settled in and is now enjoying his flock of seven hens, fertilizing eggs at will. But so far, he has not shown any of those nasty aggressive tendencies (towards hens as well as humans) that roosters are prone to. He is a real beauty.
