Hot Stuff

Just after sunset, the glow of Halemaʻumaʻu Crater is already visible. And convenient to view: just drive up to the Jaggar Museum and stroll over to this vantage point. I guess the crater was relatively “quiet” when we visited — just a bunch of gas and steam coming out — but still looks impressive. Take a look at this webcam for a thermal view of what’s going on inside that crater. Hot stuff, indeed.
