State Route 130, Santa Clara County

Yes, the Bear Flag is ironic (grizzlies were hunted to extinction by the pioneers, who first raised a version of this flag during a "revolt" that was basically an Anglo raid on Mexican land -- which, in fairness, was Native land until the Spanish colonized it). But in the 21st Century, California is, in a sense, fulfilling its history by leading the way toward a more multicultural America. And that we can be proud of.
