Hagia Sophia

View from the roof terrace of the Arcadia Hotel in Sultanahmet. This is the Hagia Sophia, in Turkish the Aya Sophia. One of the greatest buildings in the world, it was built under Emperor Justinian and was a Christian church for 1000 years before being converted to a mosque and dedicated to Islam by Mehmet the Conqueror in 1453. It was declared a museum by Ataturk in 1935.
