Wow- thank-you all. I imagine the garden of Eden as a magical place, with untamed nature running riot with Man -or in this case Woman- a latecomer. But in the first day of her life Eve has not even met her "husband" yet, let alone any insidiously insistent sepents. Adam hasn't started digging yet and everything is still unspoilt. So far...

Marvelous biblical phantasy! The virgin Eve...unknown to iconography--until now! I love the blue/grey tones... Ochin krasyvii!!!

What a good job, those giant artichokes; could eat the same one for weeks.
I guess Eden was Paradise for the vegetarians among us!

Thanks very much Paul and charmante. The sculpture illustrates the passage from "Paradise Lost" in which Eve, in the evening of her first day of life, describes to Adam the moment when she caught a glimpse of her own relection in a pool of water. The giant vegetables... well Milton didn't know about them.

I just love this image. Like a number of other Flickrites , my first thought was "Wow! artichoke wings." In fact, in my head, I had already titled this Artichokes of Ascension. Definitely a fave.

If you ask me "So what transforms some utter boring simple records into pictures of lasting merit?" I'll answer,"It comes down to the choice of subject. The photographer must have intense curiosity, not just passing visual interest, in the name of the pictures. This curiosity leads to intense examination, reading, talking, research and many, many failed attempts over a long period of time. This photo here I assume is a good example of a photo which has a good subject as a starting point.
