A nice little 1970s half-frame camera I bought recently. If half frame is good enough for Hollywood it's good enough for me. I'm quite pleased with my first film- it's great to look at the roll of negatives and see 72 little pictures on it. Made by BeLomo- the Byelorussian Optical and Mechanical factory about 1972.
Chaika is the Russian for seagull- and was a popular brand name for a variety of related goods- including the well-known Chaika government limousines, and Chaika watches, and probably Chaika washing machines as well.
I also have this model's predecessor- which I converted to a pinhole camera as it has a has a sticky shutter. The problem is that the roll of film goes on and on and on- so it may be a while before I see the results...
