the hills pulled a blanket of fog over themselves and settled in for the night | san mateo, ca
One of my favorite things about this spot is the way each evening the fog rolls in over the hills, moving from the Pacific Ocean toward the San Francisco Bay. It always reminds me of someone pulling a comforter over themselves to keep warm for the night.
I used the same technique to create this image as I outlined in my previous upload (see comments below).
1. I started with 7 source images, which I processed (tonemapping) in Photomatix Pro and exported to a 16-bit TIFF file.
2. I imported the TIFF into Lightroom for spot removal and to dramatize the sky a bit before exporting it to JPEG.
3. Next I opened the JPEG in Photoshop and used the Unsharp Mask filter, after which I added my border and logo. And bam! it was ready for upload!
Thank you for your visits and comments. Please feel free to add notes to any of my images.
I do a lot of HDR processing. All of my HDR photos can be found here.
I shoot with a Nikon D800. All my D800 photos are right here.
