Senator Begich receives the Lifetime Achievement Award

The Center for Coastal Conservation awarded Begich the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award. The text of a letter from the Board of Directors is below:

Dear Sen. Begich:

It is my pleasure to inform you that the Board of Directors of the Center for Coastal

Conservation has elected you to receive its 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award in

recognition of your many contributions to good stewardship of America’s natural

resources.

Throughout your public service you have always taken a balanced and reasoned

approach to the management and conservation of our natural resources, including

appreciation of the Americans who enjoy these resources and the jobs that outdoor

recreation supports. Your leadership has provided a strong voice on issues

important to anglers and boaters from coast to coast.

As a key leader on the Senate Commerce Committee, you have taken a keen interest

in the important issues impacting marine conservation and recreational access to

America’s public resources. We look forward to continuing work with you on issues

important to the recreational fishing community.

As you know, the Center for Coastal Conservation is a non-partisan coalition of the

leading advocates for marine recreational fishing and boating. Past honorees include

your distinguished colleagues Del. Madeleine Bordallo, Rep. Dan Boren and Sen.

David Vitter.

We would like to present you with this award at our annual luncheon at noon on

Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Liaison Hotel ballroom. We look forward to

honoring you appropriately at this event, which will be attended by many of our key

members.

Thank you again for your leadership.
