our web site is up and running again, may I direct your attention to this section through the parking island we have built in teglværkshavnen:

the section shows that the parking garage is literally, the only down to earth element :O

I am glad you had a look at it. I was very happy with that drawing. it is the actual autoCAD section without most of the text. I added the colours and shadows to help the client and municipality understand where we were going and it worked.

a man to whom i was explaining a project for a house he wanted to build, said deprecatingly: "i really don't like sections." he was a rather delicate person and i got the impression that the mere idea of cutting into anything was repulsive to him. (rasmussen 1959)

well, i suppose it appeals to the mr hyde in us :D because, you know, i quite like it.

I always forget that steen eiler rasmussen had a sense of humour. the man was such a dry little thing, in word, deed, and body.

the problem I have with sections, is that they reveal all the issues you are going to be struggling with the next year or two, the very first time you draw them (....)

[ EDIT, deleted comment retrieved from google cache: 8.59 cc says: Social housing? This? I want to be poor in Denmark :) ]

importantly, the rent is not cheap - a project like this still has to be financed.
but over the years, the rent won't follow the market and in the end, it will be very reasonable.
there is always this aspect of time, decades and centuries even.

ha! it all depends on the water levels, I guess :)

[ EDIT, deleted comment retrieved from google cache: 8.59 cc says: Well, at least the people from the first floor can sleep nice knowing they'll drown after the Fidjians no matter what :) ]

interestingly, we witnessed how water levels are changing - even during construction.

the general water level remains the same, but the extremes are...well, they are more extreme. a 100 year event, describing a rare high, happened twice while we were on site. it has no real influence for the people living here - we are talking about decimeters after all - but things are changing, no doubt about it.
