kay fisker, det danske institut i rom, april 2005

accademia di danimarca in roma.

architect: kay fisker, 1967.

covered entrance with lightwell and sculpture.

as a young man, fisker worked for lewerentz who later named him one of his five favourite architects; his housing projects had a great influence on the work of his friend alvar aalto; he taught utzon; headed the copenhagen school of architecture for ages; unknown to most, his university in aarhus was named a model for future nazi architecture by the german architectural press in 1942...and he is unknown outside denmark, maybe for always choosing decency and order above the spectacular.

more words, yada, yada, yada.
