Camusdarach Beach

The fictional Scottish village of Ferness was the setting for one of my all time favorite movies, Local Hero, filmed in 1983. Ferness was supposedly on the west coast of Scotland. The village was a narrow strip by a beach, next to the ocean. In fact the beach, shown here, is on the west coast, but the actual village (next shot) is on the east coast. Still, it's a gorgeous setting and a great movie.

Happer (Burt Lancaster) : [Morris is on the roof, putting up hate messages against Happer, who is calling his secretary] "There's a madman on the roof. You'd better call the police to get some marksmen over here. Shoot him down. Shoot to kill."

Oldsen: Whaddya thinkin' about?
