      Where was this place?

In West Seattle on the southeast corner of 38th & Fauntleroy. Here's an external shot from the same time, and here's the today shot (it's now a cleaners) in Google Street View.

And while we're talking West Seattle burger joints, a shot of Kelly's, a drive-in a few blocks away at 3726 California between Manning and Charleston, was taken just a few days before this. I wonder what prompted the eatery tour.

Fantastic shot! I wish more dishes were visible to satisfy my restaurant ware craving.

Severinus-Great job sleuthing these locations! I believe Mr. B's was originally a service station. Re: Kelly's drive in on California Ave., this was later the location of a Standard station, I know, I lived 2 blocks from here as a kid, in the '60's!

You've got a good memory: the 1950 Sanborn insurance map has the building containing "gas & oil".

Also interesting to note that it was way back in July '56 that a permit was sought to turn the building into a dry-cleaning shop. If it's been continuous, that's pretty good longevity for a business that I mostly associate these days with cookie-cutter storefronts. It's also impressive considering the county considers the property's best use as "tear down"—a fate this building seems likely to meet before long.

Severinus, thank you for these shots. I represent the family who owns these properties - so they will be excited to see some of these old photos. True statement that the "highest and best use" is probably redevelopment. However there are no plans for that at this time.
      Thank you again.
