Fifth Avenue and Battery Street during second Denny Regrade, 1929

The second Denny Hill Regrade completed the leveling of the district begun with the first regrade between 1902-1911. The bottom of the image shows the part of the conveyor belt system that was used to remove debris to barges that dumped the dirt into Elliott Bay. The photographer is looking south.
