Zen midge-fest

To continue the 'boulder in watercourse' theme.....

I spotted this seriously water-worn rock on the way down from the 'meadows' end of Glen Nevis and went back up there a couple of days later to enjoy an hour or so of being attacked by midges (Scotland is sooooooo much nicer in winter!). I was there for over an hour, toying around with different exposure and compositions, and I'm entirely sure there were more images made by people photographing the amusing sight of me - with my tripod fully-extended and balanced very high up on the huge boulders of the little canyon - trying to fend off the attackers, than I made of the boulder itself.

I'm sure this must be a much-photographed little scene, but I found the way the lodged branch is cradling the rock very attractive and worth the effort / midge pain.
