Stop the nonsense.
This morning I read the latest in the barrage of calls for sanctions against the State of Israel over its military offensive in the Gaza strip, and I was moved to make a statement.
Just like every human being with a brain and a heart, I’m hoping for a swift resolution to the conflict and an end to civilian deaths. But the stoning of Israel is quickly losing whatever tenuous hold it ever possessed on humanitarian motivations.
In Montreal two days ago demonstrators were burning Israeli flags. In Ottawa I heard shouts of “Back to the ovens!” In France and Denmark they’re already torching synagogues and beating up Jewish children on the street.
That’s no longer a peace movement, people. It’s a pogrom.
