Koalapalooza Tweet-up
Thirty-four koala enthusiasts showed up this morning for our Koalapalooza tweet-up, despite less than favorable weather. San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research scientist, Jennifer Tobey, led our "tweeps" on a tour through the Outback area of the Zoo, helping guests track three hidden koala plushes using the same telemetric tracking equipment that our researchers use. Guests also got up close and personal with some of the coolest Australian animals at the Zoo, including a laughing kookaburra, a koala, and an echidna.

All guests who showed up received a free Outback Steakhouse gift card, and a raffle was held for some cool koala prizes. Three lucky "tweeps" won the koala plushes that we tracked, and three other lucky "tweeps" took home koala adoption packages. Our grand prize winner of an Inside Look VIP tour of the Zoo for two was Aryana Moore from Riverside, CA. Aryana and her family woke up at 5am just to make the two-hour trek down to San Diego for the tweet-up, and they were the first ones to arrive. Perhaps even more fittingly, it was Aryana's birthday!

Congrats to all the winners and thanks to everyone who came out. We hope to see you all at the next tweet-up!
