I needed some exercise, and checking out the owls at the mere seemed a good walk. I arrived a little later than I should have, really - right at sunset. It was really too dark to get any good bird shots after that, although very little was about, especially with the lake half frozen over. But the sunset itself, and icy seedheads, were very pretty.
The orange circle is not the sun's disc, but rather the pleasingly circular bokeh of it - in reality it was much smaller than this. A nice, and totally unexpected effect.
