honey-coated and sprinkled with candy

anne is coming home today for thanksgiving, so i decided to make one of her favorite treats, struffoli (honey balls). these italian pastries are usually made for christmas, but i figure if i screw up this time, i'll just buy them for her like i normally do during xmas. and screw up i did. it said to make 1/2 inch balls, but i suck at estimating size and they came out too big. but they taste really good. the cookie part was very brittle and buttery, like a butter cookie. it melts in your mouth. after coating it with honey and candy sprinkles, it came out very delicious but rich. i guess i'll still get anne her traditional struffoli from the bakery though, they look better. =P

i got the recipe for this off the food network site here:,,FOOD_9936_1360...
