Day 53 - Jedi Lightsaber Video Tutorial (Strobist Wars 5 of 7)

Day 53 of the 365 Photo Journey February 22, 2010.

“This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire. ” Obi-Wan

I have had a huge amount of people asking how I have been making my Lightsabers. So I have done up a post processing video of todays shot. You can check it out on my site

    www.thephotojourney.com/2010/02/26/jedi-lightsaber-video-...

I'd love to hear your comments on the video and who knows if the response is good I will try and do plenty more throughout the year.

For this shot I wrapped myself up in a black sheet and used the handle of a mop as my lightsaber.

Sorry I have been so slack this week with uploads and commenting but I hope to get back on schedule this weekend after my bit 10km tunnel run on Sunday. The good thing is I have still managed to take a photo each day, I just haven't processed them. That includes a new Sportrait.

    Thank god its Friday.

      SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want a lightsaber for myself!! LOL!!!
but not blue... maybe magenta, I dont know hahahaha...
This is pretty awesome, the blue of your eyes pop out with all that black, and the lightsaber is just so cool.

      Thanks for the tutorial :-)

Well executed Scott, both the image and the tutorial. The technique you used was pretty similar to the way the then fledgling ILM created the originals... but it took them a room full of equipment. Kudos to you on your Star Wars wrap up!
