This forlorn sign sits in the Washoe Valley, alongside Hwy 395. The motel it advertised was torn down a couple of years ago, but the sign remains. It is rusting, falling apart, it creaks in the wind, and many of the neon tubes are broken and gone. But still the sign remains, for how many more years nobody knows. It could stay up for decades until a strong gust of wind brings it down, or it could be cut down and removed tomorrow. Not knowing is part of the excitement of this ghost sign.
Long exposure, ambient light from sodium vapor and a full moon. Some light painting done with a million candlepower spotlight.
