Dahlias have had a dedicated plot near the Conservatory of Flowers since the mid 1920’s. The American Dahlia Society was originally organized in San Francisco in 1917 and the Dahlia was adopted as the Official Flower of San Francisco by its Board of Supervisors in 1926.
I take my family here several times a year to enjoy the dahlia dell. It is maintained by a club and there are always volunteers working in the flower beds eager to show off their gorgeous flowers.
