Lake Manyara Elephant
Located below the south slope of the Ngorongoro highlands is Lake Manyara, which is a major Tanzanian wildlife reserve. In 1978, when this photo was taken, there were many thousands of elephants here in what was described as the heaviest concentration of elephants in Africa. Sadly, there has been a precipitous decline in their numbers due to poaching and other factors.
This 1978 image, shot from a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC, came from a scanned 35mm negative scanned by an HP Scanjet G4050 and restored with multiple Photoshop operations.
