Presidio Main Post
A few years ago, I recall seeing a planning sketch for this former asphalt parking lot–which used to be the parade ground in Army times–with plenty of visitors on a green meadow. Well, now that became reality at a recent event, taken from near the post office and bank building on the northern end. Bright green grass shimmers in the noontime light. The Presidio of San Francisco has evolved into an amazing collection of spaces, nature, and venues!
This former military base near the Golden Gate Bridge has now proven it can be self-sufficient as demanded by an act of Congress after it became a national park. By the way, the building in background is the Presidio Bowling Alley!
