Large Megellanic Cloud (LMC)

The Large Magellanic Cloud, a southern sky wonder, is a dwarf galaxy brightly visible (and huge) to the naked eye. At first glance in dark skies it looks like a cloud, and is an awe-inspiring sight.

This stack of 15x5minute exposures was taken in the dark desert skies near Sutherland, South Africa, in the Karoo desert.
