28 ~ Amor de perdição [Explore]

The Portuguese writer, Camilo Castelo Branco, became famous with the romance "Amor de Perdição". It's a romantic story that ends in tragedy (It's our Romeo and Juliet). According to the author, this romance was written in 15 days (1861), when he was in jail, at Cadeia da Relação, due to adultery. Cadeia da Relação building was given another destiny more recently. It is now an important place for photographic events, o Centro Português de Fotografia, that you can see below. Recently, the artist Francisco Simões, author of this sculpture offered it to the city and the name of the romance was given to the Square.
