After a very hectic few weeks at work my friend Amy and I decided to get out of London for the weekend and do something adventurous. Climbing Scafell Pike in the Lake District sounded about right, but with some confusion over which district it was in we ended up in the Peak District. I blame my dependence on Sat Navs for my increasingly poor sense of geography and direction. I don’t know why but we decided that camping would be a good idea. After taking the piss out of Amy for bringing lots of blankets, a duvet and some pillows I realised just how cold it gets in a tent in October and found myself sleeping in all my clothes. It rained, the tent leaked and it was very cold/windy but we did manage to get a good sunny day and a decent walk around Derwent Water so it was all good in the end.
