The two most important gifts I'm giving this year have been acquired ... and it's not even Black Friday yet!
Earlier this year I told my daughters I'd like to get their little ones their very first bikes. I arranged to meet them at stores last weekend. To the girls (on separate days) it was just a shopping trip with mom and dad ... and grandpa just happened to be there standing in the bike aisle. We turned it into a play area so I could see the right fit and gauge the colors they went for. There were clear winners -- including the Minnie Mouse helmet for one. (The other already has a helmet.) When "playtime" was over, we went our separate ways. I bought the bikes later.
They look cute together -- even if it's way too much pink! But that's what the girls kept going back to. Both bikes have little compartments, both have tassles, both fit, and both are stable (tricycle & training wheels).
I'm thinking of not wrapping them. Instead I'll bring them to Christmas bundled in blankets and let them peel back to drapes to discover what's underneath. And if Dec 25 is a dry morning I might put my bike on the car and hope to go with them on their first rides in the cul de sac.
But that's all a secret, so "Shhhh!"
