The savagery of nature
The grey heron stood very still in the water for ages waiting for a trout to come within range. Then he struck with the speed of lightning and stabbed it behind the head with his sharp beak. He brought it to the surface and stood up and waited for it to die.
Next he dropped it back in the water and picked it up quickly between his jaws before swallowing it.
This is the first time I have captured the whole sequence.
