Muzzafargarh: Rukhsana, 25, sits with her 2-year-old son (front) and 12-year-old daughter (background) as both are administered intravenous fluids at a hospital in Muzzafargarh. Rukhsana and her family were evacuated from flooding that devastated her village in the district of Muzzafargarh.
Both children were brought to the hospital today with symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and high fever. She has 3 additional children who have not yet shown signs of sickness and all are staying at an IDP camp in the district of Muzzafargarh.
As fears of waterborne diseases spreading to those in the affected areas, Aid agencies have been warning of the dangers of an outbreak of cholera since the onset of the floods that have reportedly affected some 20m people.
