COL Jackson visits Savannah District

Col. Donald E. (Ed) Jackson Jr., commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) South Atlantic Division (SAD), had his first visit to the Savannah District July 23-24, 2012. Jackson assumed command of SAD, which oversees five USACE districts in the region, on July 16, 2012. During his visit, Jackson met with Savannah District Commander Col. Jeff Hall, Deputy Commander Lt. Col. Thomas Woodie, and other District representatives. He received briefings on key projects and programs, and took a boat tour of the Savannah harbor. He also toured portions of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Savannah National Wildlife Refuge to see the recently-completed freshwater control structures, built by the Savannah District, that modernize and automate the flow of fresh water into the refuge.
