White-crowned Sparrow on Morro Rock

At least, it was on a piece of it, which was a huge boulder, about four feet cubed, that had obviously fallen off the Rock. This was the first time that I had seen Morro Rock up close and personal and I was very impressed with its size and its beauty. I'm not sure that we could even see the top of it, since the side was so sheer. The part that we could see was really high, though. It doesn't look that big from a distance.

While we were there, we kept hearing a beautiful bird song and since neither my wife nor I know birds' songs all that well, my wife finally asked what bird was singing, to which the group leader replied, a White-crowned Sparrow. Minutes later this beautiful guy showed up, close enough that I had to back away in order to focus on him, and he continued to sing. What a treat!
