This is a sea creature called Botryllus.
It's one of the many biological species that we image in my lab at UCSB.
This shot was made under a microscope. So "technically" it's super macro.
Jungho, my labmate and I just prepared the sample, popped out the eyepiece of the microscope, placed a Nikon point and shoot camera in its place and went on a clicking spree. We did have a hard time getting the damn thing to focus right (remember we are looking at less than an mm of resolution here), but we did manage some good shots.
