Western Reef Egret

Clicked this when the bird went into the water looking for either fish, insects, small crabs or mudskippers that form part of its diet. Was lucky to get pretty clear shots of this rather shy bird that is rarely found in the state of Kerala. It is more active in twilight. Moves cautiously on rocky or sandy coast or mudflats and known to jab at prey. It settles hunched-up on rocks or other protrusions.
