True medieval stronghold

This is Hochosterwitz Castle. A true medieval stronghold, first mentioned in the year 860. Situated on a rock of 160 meters (520 ft) height, it is considered to be one of Austria's most impressive castles. It is heavily armored and the way to the top is guarded by 14 gates. The castle has survived numerous attacks from aggressors. It is said that it has never been conquered and that none of the attackers managed to get beyond the fourth gate which is called the Engelstor (English: Angel's gate).
