Colorful clouds

Barely caught this!

On nov.14th I was driving with a friend away from Tromsø to get away from the clouds coming from south west in over the coast, but after a small hour of waiting in the foreshore further into the country the clouds switched direction and came our way. With a CME expected to hit earth on nov.14th we could still see only a faint aurora. We got frustrated and then decided to drive back towards the city where it now was reported to clear up. After 5min in the car suddenly we could se a strong aurora bursting out behind the partially cloudy sky. We paniced as we were in an area with lot's of roadlights and houses. You can see the road we were driving on in the middle of the shot with the white house. We had no choice, we just had to park the car, grab the gear and run. We drove a short km to the left of that white house and just had to run. There was little time to plan any good composition, and I wish I was somewhere without the clouds and annoying roadlights, but I still believe this came out as descent shot. The aurora was nothing but amazing, green, white, purple, moving fast and strong.

Did not realize I was in such bad shape, but running in snow really gets you short-breathed!

Had to blend in a cooler foreground as the snow/ice in the foreground was very warmed up by the roadlights from another road behind us.

Have a few more shots from same location, will post later.

Hope you like it,
