Shot this one one a frozen water not too far away from Tromsø on 3rd of November 2010.
The temperature was below -10 degrees celsius, you could see your breath
turning to steam when breating out, and it was really silent in the woods.
The only thing you could hear was the ice freezing together, and for those of you
who have experienced this know it is a really awesome sound!
I had to stand on the ice because there was lots of trees making it difficult to
stand on shore, and this was very exciting. The ice was crisp clear beneath you,
and If I had to guess the ice was mabye 10-15cm thick.
I would of course have liked to have the foreground razor sharp, but obviously
this is not easy when shooting wide open in complete darkness,
and focus set in hyper focal area to achieve sharpness on the aurora, stars and the mountains,
at least not in a single exposure which this is.
This was one was shot at a location I have been thinking about many times
but never tried. Will definitely be going back here soon if aurora shows up
to get more shots.
