New 60D (top & back)

2012, Feb. 6

Killeen, Texas

My Canon EOS 60D arrived this afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. (purchased Feb. 2 from Amazon).

I used the ailing 400D to take these product shots, with a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 lens and a LumoPro LP160 flash fired off-camera via a Cactus V4 wireless flash trigger.

I blogged in December (here) about why I decided to buy a new camera and how I made my decision.

Congratulations! I am sure you will love it. I really wanted the 60D for my second camera, but at the time I was buying no one had them in stock and did not know when they would get them. Since I was time constrained, I went with the T3i instead and really like it. I believe the 60D uses the same battery as the 7D (that was another plus for me). I have never got 1600 pics from one charge, but I never just sat down and clicked off several hundred in a row, either. I do get more clicks on the 7D than the T3i, though. Enjoy!

I'm glad you like the T3i (600D) -- that was my second choice. And I think many of its features are similar to the 60D's. Just days before I bought mine, several sites began raising their prices (Adorama, B&H, etc.) on the 60D. Amazon was the only one that still listed it for the price I'd considered...

    It's my first SLR that isn't a Rebel. :-)

(Though I have used various 1-series bodies and a 5Dmk2, each borrowed from good friends.)

I'll probably never test the 1600-pic shooting capacity either, but so far I'm happy with the battery's performance.

Great choice Will, I am debating between the 7D and the 60D.

Thanks, Marv. I'm sure either would be great... (I didn't consider the 7D because of budget restrictions, not because of any lack of features. ;-)
