Mesmerised by murmuration we follow them
I took this detail shot of a murmuration of starlings whilst standing on Brighton's East Pier, facing west. The starlings were getting very close to the pier, however in the failing light the low aperture setting I was using was causing most of my shots to become blurry. Whilst watching their behaviour I realised that there was a small instant of time when they pause on an updraft, and I timed this shot to coincide. I like that some of the wing feather detail has come out. There are actually two flocks visible in this photo, one is comprised of the smaller birds in the background.
