Masked Weaver (Ploceus velatus)

30 August 2011

1. He is weaving around the entrance to the nest

2. Busy with the interior of the nest

3. Threading strands around the entrance

31 August 2011

4. The Nest secured around two bamboo canes either side of the entrance hole

5. I think he was getting cross with me!

6. The nest is not finished but he is hanging by the door way flapping his wings and calling to attract a female. Every now and again he would go and chase one and try to get her to come to the nest!

7. Stripping leaves into strands for weaving.

8. Looking around for more green leaves

9. I think the nest looks like a frogs head at this stage, lol! He still has to form the bulge at the bottom left of the nest where the female will lay her eggs.

I'll try to keep on eye on what this guy is up to on a daily basis.
