We visited Woodchester Park yesterday. Quite a gruelling walk in terms of inclines and distance. Well it was for an over weight middle aged photographer. Liz and the dogs however strolled around without breaking sweat. This is the boat house where one can readily imagine the Jeeves and Wooster like inhabitants of the estate gathering for trips on the lake, picnics and high jinks.
It's been rather tastefully restored, unlike the mansion, a work in progress still, which stands on the site of the previous Georgian pile. It was apparently never finished, lack of funds I believe. The NT don't own the house but do own the estate lands and are managing it to encourage wildlife.
