Bittern | by Stewart Black

Took a wander down to the Somerset Levels just west of Glastonbury. The Bittern, a bird I'd previously heard of but not heard was making a heck of a racket. If you've not heard it the sound is like a mobile left on vibrate sitting on a large table. A deep rhythmic burr; they call it a boom but it isn't explosive. It is too loud for a bird, quite odd.

Anyhoo imagine my delight in seeing one for the first time and then imagine my joy in actually getting a shot of one. A great morning.
