These remnants are tucked back in the pines at the edge of the meadow. Not sure if this was for horses or cows, but Big Meadows still has a lot of both. The Bureau of Land Management allowed summer gazing here, and there's still cows around. It's also a very popular horse trail, but a horse-only camp has been established a mile or so down the road, so this hasn't been used for a long time.
