Palouse Sunrise Sunstar

    Newer Older

Steptoe Butte State Park, Washington. The first rays of sunlight shine over the Palouse green wheat fields at dawn.

This morning I had a great time meeting up with D Breezy, Alan Chan and Jave. Couple of great guys to take photos with.

Max McMillan, Jonsie66, and 3 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I had a great time photographing with you guys. I hope you were able to catch that sweet sunset light on Saturday. I captured a rainbow over the Dahmen Barn. We'll see how the images come out. We had beautiful weather this weekend I hope you were able to come away with a lot of keepers. Ry

So enjoying your Palouse shots!! Thank you for posting them -- I am hoping to head over to Steptoe Butte in August. Is August a good time of year to be there? Lots to learn from your images - your composition and editing are amazing!!!

    16. Ryan McGinty 45 months ago

Thanks Thrash and NetDep. August is a great time to see the Palouse. Gold wheat will be everywhere and the harvest will have just begun. Since the dirt roads are dry you can travel down any road you want, just make sure you don't block any roads when you pulled over. You'll probably see up to 40 photographers at Steptoe on the weekends. During the week it's a lot quieter. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular from Steptoe. During the day you can travel down the roads looking for barns and interesting wheat patterns. Thanks for looking everyone. Ry
